Well, it was another great night at Red Rock Coffee in Mountain View tonight.

Nothing like enjoying a hot beverage on a cold fall night and listening to some local musical talent.

Cavin & King’s Open Mic at Red Rock Coffee has been going on for 13 years (wow!!), headed up by Steve Cavin and Scott King. Randy and I showed up in July of this year to unveil a couple of songs from the then newly formed Chinese Melodrama. I think we played “Black” and “Angie” at that open mic.

Steve was such an enthusiastic supporter of our music and we are so grateful that he immediately invited us to be a featured act. Each week one group gets a 30-minute slot at 9pm as the “featured” performers. The first available date back in July? Tonight — October 25th! Yes, that’s how popular the open mic is, and how long Steve’s list of local high-quality musicians is these days.

We feel very fortunate to be included on this list, and to be part of this community.

And we look forward to our next featured act performance at Red Rock. When? That’s right…next April 4, 2011!! We look forward to unveiling some of our originals (and maybe even a CD?) by that time.
